A Cut Above the Rest

Big Nate’s Family BBQ began when we were asked over and over, “When are you going to open up a restaurant?” Finally we had enough and gave in. BNFBBQ is homemade cooking, prepared daily and served quickly. If you are looking for lunch, you have come to the right place. If you are looking for dinner, you have come to the right place. If you are looking to feed hundreds of hungry rhinoceroses, you have come to the right place! We can feed groups of any size, and we can feed them well. 

Our daily lunch special is called “The Trinity” (renamed from “The Holy Trinity” for obvious reasons). The Trinity features our mouth watering brisket, our amazing pulled pork, and our perfectly seasoned chicken quarters, with a side of signature mashed potatoes, and a side of pulled pork beans. It really is a special lunch.

The food truck came to my apartment complex last week and the food was so good. I hope they come back. I ordered the Big Nate plate and shared it with my boyfriend. It was enough food for both of us: a lot of meat and normal portion size of the 2 sides. Next time though I'll probably order us both Trinity plates so we both get our own portion size of sides, instead of having to share the sides. We got the beans and mashed potatoes and they were delicious.

This was the best barbecue we’ve had in the valley, hands down. The service was awesome step up from just about anywhere— Eric had awesome recommendations and the girl (sorry I didn’t catch her name!) checked on us consistently. We loved the sweet Arizona bbq sauce and bought a bottle to use at home. The location took us by surprise but it was so nice to have something so close to Falcon Field. We’ll definitely be back for future lunch breaks.
Note: we ordered the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches, the mac and cheese, the mashed potatoes, coleslaw, cornbread and peach cobbler. The cobbler was fine but pretty much the only thing that disappointed slightly. It definitely tasted like canned peach pie filling and the top wasn’t anything special. Plus we were full from the rest of the food by the time we got to it. But we were BLOWN AWAY by the pulled pork, mashed potatoes and the coleslaw (I normally don’t even like coleslaw so this is saying something!!)

What an unforgettable dining experience at this BBQ restaurant! Right from the start, the staff welcomed us with incredible warmth and hospitality, making us feel completely at home. Eager to dive into a variety of dishes, we were not disappointed each one was a hit. The ribs were exceptionally tender and bursting with rich, smoky flavors, practically falling off the bone. The mashed potatoes were sublime, elevating the entire meal to another level.
